Meet Kathy DiMarino
A leader who listens and acts
I am a former teacher with a passion for public education and its role in a vibrant community. As a stay-at-home mom I have been dedicated to my own children’s education and has found the Owen J Roberts School District to be supportive environment with an excellent teaching staff. I desire to join the team of volunteers who steer this great district with the goals of heightened academic achievement and a positive and safe environment for all students and staff.
I grew up in Chester County, attending public schools in the Downingtown Area School District and have as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Music Education from West Chester University. I taught in Colonial, Upper Merion and Phoenixville School districts before leaving teaching to be a full-time mom. I have kept involved in the teaching world by teaching part time at Coventry Christian School, directing the OJRHS musical and the 7ups. I also teach private voice lessons in my home. I am a volunteer singer at Church of the Saviour in Wayne and have volunteered for my children’s swim and gymnastics teams throughout the last 10 years. I am also active in the music world as the parent president of the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra. I am married to my husband Dave and we have three children: Daniel (18), Joshua (16), and Abby (13).
My goals for Owen J. Roberts:
I would like to increase the communication and transparency of the school board so that community members can fully understand the vision of the district and how that vision is being carried out daily. I believe that a school board director is a bridge between the administration and the community who deserve to have their voices heard and make contributions to the educational process. I would also like to improve our school environment in order to continue to attract fine teachers as well as provide a safe and healthy place for students. This includes continuing work on the proper calculation of GPA, enhancing art and music education, following district guidelines in the hiring process, career guidance for high school students and the healthiest school hours for all students. These goals would support our goals of academic excellence and ensure students have the opportunity for a balanced educational experience.
